Top-notch welcome, delicious meal (I loved the smoked haddock soup!). We had a fantastic evening ending with a memorable game of darts with a very friendly local regular. It's a shame to write this review, as the restaurant food was brilliant and the service was friendly towards us. However, the table near us arrived without a reservation and after some confusion with the waiter, they were seated with the menus but the (apparent) owner was not happy. She was very rude towards these guests (who were visiting Scotland from France), telling them they shouldn't have came without a reservation. She then started a witch hunt to find the waiter who had allowed them to be seated for food. It made the entire experience very uncomfortable for us, nevermind the people at the receiving end of the abuse. The owner was shouting and being very aggressive to them (2 adults and a child). We understand that smaller places can find it difficult to accommodate people, but there are ways this can be delivered to the people, and not make them feel terrible. Maybe the owner felt they could get away with it since they are the only restaurant in the village. It was not the warm and friendly Scottish hospitality that you receive all around Scotland - so I hope this visit doesn't stop these lovely tourists from returning to visit Scotland. The review would have been a 4/5 easily but the abusive owner ruined it all. We'll definitely give this restaurant/bar a miss in future.
