Well priced, comfortable room. Slept well. Clean and tidy room and en suite with a good hot shower. Breakfast was very tasty. Choice of Continental, Full Cooked Scottish Breakfast, Eggs Benedict, Salmon & Scrambled Egg, Belgian Waffles, etc. Excellently prepared. Staff were all really pleasant and efficient. Good stuff Kirkstyle!

Not a very nice welcome. I was called the day before asking what time I would arrive. Then on arrival the welcome reception wasnt great. Asked to sign a form whilst people were coming in with tables and chairs for a function, had to keep moving out the way whilst the receptionist tried to tell me the ins and outs. Did I want to pay now??? What time was I having breakfast???? Breakfast 8-9.45am? I was quite rushed. Shown to my room through the function come cafe. Everyone at the function was looking at me wondering how I knew the birthday girl. I was shown to room 6 right behind the cafe where the function was- incredibly noisy!!! The outdoor seating for the cafe was directly outside my bedroom window too! Also my room was opposite the kitchen so a lot of noise and not a nice smell of hot fat! The staff in the morning were fine, the bed was comfortable if a bit Creaky, door to cafe banging at 4.30am. The shower wasnt very powerful. Probably ok to stay here if you were in any other room and not a function on. Really felt like I was an inconvenience to the very busy staff taking care of the function. Such a shame.

As compared to other Border hotels we've stayed in , this was a surprise as it has an up to date feel to it. Ideal if you don't want a room with 1940's beds and furniture plus old showers etc. Believe me we've stayed in em. Refrigerator in room with bottles of water and milk for you to use. Good tea / coffee facilities, nice biscuits. En - suit excellent. Daily towels change if needed. Room warm and bed nice. Breakfast food choices were good. Food very nice and service was quick. Portions good. Staff pleasant and helpful. Our room at the rear was very quiet. Garden view was a couple of planters on Astroturf, which made us chuckle. Biggar is in an area of great beauty, but beware of road users who like to drive ' rather quickly ' with hairy overtaking. Would be 5 stars but it's on street parking. Lots of parking available but a concern if you have an expensive or Classic vehicle you don't want tampering with. Free off road car parking at Co - op store , rear of hotel , with linked footpath.
