Had a fantastic stay at Tigh na Boireach! The house is unbelievably cute on the outside, and very cosy and comfy on the inside. Everything is well thought out and I especially love the herb garden boat in the garden. It's a great base for exploring the isalnds and we enjoyed day trips over to Harris and down to South Uist. Thanks so much for a great stay!

Wow.. we had a wonderful week staying in Tigh na Boireach. We were given a warm welcome by all the islanders who we met. The Black House was extremely comfortable and alot of time and care had been taken with the renovation and the interior decoration. The cottage was lovely and warm and well lit. As a keen cook I was delighted with the locally produced veg and fresh seafood. The kitchen was very well equipped with a great range of pots and utensils. The scenery is breath takingly beautiful. Glorious sandy beaches... that we had all to ourselves! There is no light pollution so perfect for star gazing and aurora watching. We saw golden eagles, sea otters, heron, ringer plover, oyster catchers..... We have fallen in love with the area and hope to return soon....permanently

I have stayed at Tigh na Boireach a dozen times since 2017. It is a very comfortable and cosy Blackhouse that has been converted to a high standard. Clachan Sands is a perfect base for exploring North Uist and Berneray, or even taking a day trip to Harris. There are lots of lovely walks including one from the cottage out to the beaches at Clachan Sands. Wildlife is everywhere, the islands are a naturalists paradise. In the summer Hen Harriers and Short-eared Owls regularly hunt over the fields where there are breeding waders, Skylarks and Corncrakes while Golden Eagles and White-tailed Eagles appear over the local hills and at times hunt the fields for rabbits. On fine evenings several Snipe can be drumming over the cottage. The machair flowers are magnificent. By September flocks of Golden Plover, Lapwing and Twite appear on the stubbles and later in the autumn the resident Greylag Geese are joined by Barnacle Geese. In such a watery landscape Otters can be seen almost anywhere.
