        I had no idea what this building was when I caught sight of it on the horizon. Some sort of agricultural silo perhaps? It was only when I had almost reached it that I realised it was a church, and an architectural wonder. A brutalist masterpiece. Don't miss it.

        Not at all like most other churches that you'll tend to find in the Western Isles, never mind the Outer Hebrides. I'm not even slightly religious, but I do admire the odd piece of architecture and find that churches are pretty interesting to visit because of it. We were a little unlucky on our visit as the pews had been moved so that the floor could have some maintenance done. Still, it didn't stop us from enjoying the space. Very different. Much more noticeable perched up on the hillside on the return trip from Eriskay.
