I haven't stayed at these lodges but I would have liked to...unfortunately I was prevented by the 'pet friendly' policy which only allows 'small dogs eg Jack Russell or dashaund and confirms 'large dogs will be turned away'. After searching for 5 days for a holiday for my mum, myself and my dog I thought when I found Castlewood lodges it would have been perfect especially as it was advertised as 'pet friendly'. I honestly cant understand any reasoning or justification for this and believe many other dog owners would also struggle to see the sense in this. I have a small border collie (18kg) who in my experience is likely to be more well behaved and quieter than any jack Russel or dashaund. I can understand policies that welcome 'well behaved dogs' leaving it up to the owner to decide whether to take their dog on holiday...given that the owner knows their dog best. However I've never come across a company that advertises being 'pet friendly' but welcomes only small dogs making the advertisement of 'pet friendly' in this case simply not accurate in my view, based on what most people would assume this means. It also only explains this 'important information' once you go to book, very unhelpful
