I've done a season as lambing assistant for commercial sheep. I went in with plenty animal husbandry experience, but virtually no livestock experience. Initially I was tasked with setting pens, feeding Ewes and caring for the lambs in the pet pen, but through shadowing the Stockman and being taught it wasn't too long before I was lambing the Ewes myself. Horses are my background, but I've learnt so much working alongside the main Stockman at Harestone. It's been a great experience and all staff have been extremely welcoming towards me and treated all the sheep/lambs and cattle with empathy, patience and compassion. Overall it's been a fantastic learning opportunity for me. I would love to do it all over again next year as an experienced lamber
