Ahhhhh, the beautiful Tombain. This was our first trip to Scotland. Upon our arrival to Tombain we were not disappointed. The cottage was warm and cosy with all the mod cons very much a home from home with a sharp sense of detail and consideration for their guests. The Location: Grantown on spey which is located around ten minutes drive from the cottage is a beautiful town which has everything you need alongside plenty of good restaurants and shops. Located in the beautiful Cairngorms there is plenty to see and do. The nitty Gritty: The cottage has three beautiful bedrooms each sleeping two people decorated and furnished to a very high standard with no expense spared, a long spacious corridor leads down the cottage to access the rooms and a mezzanine in the living area with a sofa bed. There is a main bathroom which includes a separate shower and bath as well as an ensuite in the twin bedroom. The kitchen, Although this is an open plan living area the kitchen cannot be missed off. A great deal of attention has been paid to the finer details here ensure your stay is a perfect as it can be. This boasts a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer, not forgetting their array of pots pans, tableware and kitchen utensils, which to an avid cook like myself is of high importance. More importantly if staying with friends the perfect setting for a dinner party. The living area is cosy and spacious offering a great sense of space due to the epic cathedral windows opening up the outside in. perfect on a misty morning! There's a fantastic log burner for those cosy nights/ mornings with plenty of logs available extra for a small fee. In addition to this there is very good wi-fi and a full sky tv package. The heating of the cottage: The cottage is adequately heated with a bio-mass boiler, you just leave it be it does what is needed, we were never cold or without hot water. There is a lovely secure outdoor area equipped with rattan seating and a barbecue where you can sit and enjoy the stunning views. The only thing i will recommend is that you take plenty of midge deterrent with you. The owners were responsive and available to answer any questions you may have. The accommodation is more than good value for money and we shall definitely be returning.
