Mallachie sits at the top of a private driveway, just off Kinchurdy Road (the best place to stay in the area!) and the large front, gently sloped garden, allows the most amazing view of the Cairngorms - so private and quiet that the red squirrels, deer and bunny rabbits visit every day and the bonus was watching the sunrise from the upstairs large picture windows!! Access to the woods at the rear of the house and the proximity to the Spey Way (lovely cycle/walk path to Aviemore town centre) is one of the main reasons we booked Mallachie and it didn't disappoint. I could walk to the village of Boat of Garten or further into the woods or even to Aviemore all from the doorstep of the house, without every seeing a main road and this was so welcome; our car remained parked up all week. The steam train passes a couple of times a day (photo of the train track, just a stone's throw from the house). The house itself is fab! cosy, warm, very well appointed and beautifully decorated; loved the Emma Bridgewater crockery and woodland/fox theme throughout the house. All mod cons make this a super home from home and the upstairs lounge area with large, pull out sofa bed for lazy teenagers was perfect!! we could then sit in the cosy downstairs lounge and relax. Fire pit with sheepskin seat covers/rugs for warmth was a bonus and we were pleasantly surprised by a welcome cake and "fire pit" kit with marshmallows!!! Communication was first class (thanks Paul) and cannot recommend highly enough. Book Mallachie - you won't be disappointed! Can't wait to return.

Stunning location looking out at the local mountains, worth it for the views alone. Gardens are huge with your own private entrance into woodland for walks with the dogs. House is huge too, plenty of room for 8, effectively upstairs is a house of it's own, perfect to let everyone have their own space. Very clean, everything you need and the owners really look after you, we rented for Christmas week and on arrival we had milk in the fridge and a cake stand full of delicious home made mince pies. Can't recommend this place highly enough, just wonderful.
