The problems we had was the upstairs toilet didn't work. We reported it but nothing happened. The sofa and cushions are all feather filled. Be aware if you have allergies like my husband. The old duvet and chocolate covers had seen better days. All the poppers had melted so didn't fasten. The upstairs double room is only a single. You can't walk round the base of the bed so had to climb over your partner and to close curtains and access plug sockets. Apr 19th, 2022

Our stay did not start well. We arrived late in the dark due to a cancelled ferry and once we'd found the cottage, were faced with very confusing and poor instructions/signs for parking. This was a bit of a worry as the courtyard needs to be accessible to farm vehicles. The outside of the cottage is very tatty and unkempt, which did not create a very good first impression. Importantly, although the property allows 2 pets, it is NOT dog friendly. The only outside space is a small piece of decking, which isn't fenced off from the neighbour's gravel courtyard. Without realising this (again there are very confusing instructions about this on the wall that you might not see immediately), we let our small dog outside for a pee and were immediately verbally abused by the next door neighbour - not only did he swear at us but also said the whole yard was covered with rat poison. Whether this was true or not, it was frightening and unpleasant. The property itself wasn't particularly clean or welcoming - the showers were covered in black mould, the carpets upstairs were very stained and and the oven needed a good clean. Once we had cleaned the shower with bleach and we were able to have a shower, the hot water supply was very erratic and the towels the tiniest I have seen outside a hotel in former communist Yugoslavia. We tried to raise our concerns with the company but they are based in Suffolk and were unable to help - the local office in Brodrick was closed over the weekend and we were told the earliest someone could look at the water boiler was Monday. In summary, we would NOT recommend this cottage if you want to visit the lovely Isle of Arran. Feb 9th, 2022
