The ruinous state of the building means you can not get up close, but that doesn't stop you from admiring it. Parts defy gravity in a way that shows the leaning tower of Pisa isn't even trying. That overhanging part provides the magic, but the majesty is how the whole castle prominently and proudly sits overlooking Lunan Bay. From some angles, it even looks like a dog obediently looking out to sea. The red sandstone against the sand dunes sets it colourfully apart from all other grey castles. It's hard to understand why it is not more of a tourist draw. Get along before gravity wins. There's easy carparking nearby at the Lunan Bay car park.
