Sadly, Eskrigg has lost it charm, gradually over the last few years. The tree felling was so sad to see (although I appreciate trees are a crop and they were overdue to be cut down). These provided a safe get-away and haven for the red squirrels. There now seem to be a lot less squirrels and a lot less tawny owl sitings. We were further upset to see no nut feeder for the squirrels at the squirrel hide. The only winners seem to be the ever increasing number of dog walkers. Why oh why could they not have an alternative walk outside of this beautiful little nature reserve. Jim continues to do a superb job and his wonderful, pristine paths are fantastic ( sadly, they are so good, it seems to be attracting even more dog walkers) but it feels that the reserve may have lost its way a little bit and forgotten its purpose.
