The Coach House

Really lovely cottage, full of character and with a homely feel, but practical at the same time. Great to have a secure garden for our dog too. Very welcoming owners. The real surprise was the area - walks from the doorstep down to the River Esk, beautiful woodlands. Slightly further afield lots of prehistoric sites to visit up the Esk valley.

This is one of the nicest self catering accommodation you'll ever find. My wife Carole and I stayed here in 2017 and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our stay was brief (3 nights) as we were touring, but we always felt we'd like to return and spend more time in the area. So we returned for 5 nights in September (2022) and were not disappointed. Downstairs is immaculate; a nice kitchen/dining area with everything you need; a lounge area with sofa's, TV, books and travel guides. Upstairs are two beautiful double bedrooms with en-suite. Nice bedding, showers, and even toiletries. Outside has a huge parking area, and even a garden for the exclusive use of guests, and their dogs! Graham and Helen welcomed us, and were usually around if we needed anything. They also supplied a nice welcome pack with bread, milk, tea, coffee and more, and even a jar of home made jam (which was very nice). We won't hesitate to return when we want to explore more. The Borders is such a beautiful area with so much to see and do.
