Having both read and been totally engrossed by Peter May's book The Blackhouse we decided to travel up to Lewis and 'visit the scene of the crime'. The whole trip was astounding and we agreed to make it an annual event. We arrived at the Port of Ness in the sunshine, a rarity for a Lewis winter. Sure enough, all the places from the book were right there. A very pleasant cafe was a welcome extra. The north of the island is nature at its best and a special place. Roll on next visit.
