After pleading with Gerry that he was our only hope of continuing our trip he agreed to meet us at our hotel in Glasgow. We chugged along as fast and steadily as we could to Glasgow and prayed we had enough petrol or it would be another grisly wait for Mr RAC.
The next day we met Gerry and he had a look at the car, obviously it started again when he also plugged his diagnostic tool in - again not an innuendo. Gerry was confused and stated that somehow the key was being read as a fake. He mentioned that if water got in the electrical system it could happen. Suddenly lightning struck and a thought came to our heads, we looked at Gerry and asked if coffee could do the damage? He looked us dead in the eyes and said, "Yes, that could cause this exact damage."
A few days before, in an Aldi car park, my arm spasmed whilst sitting on the drivers side of the car. Coffee went everywhere, including all over the dashboard and down a vent which sat directly above the electrical system of the car. Gerry felt the wires and they were sticky. I had almost killed a car with a 60p iced coffee. It was good coffee though.
Gerry wiped down our wires and charged us the bare minimum for our time, we had a laugh and he single handedly saved our holiday. Jean has not faulted since and we are forever grateful for Gerry. Gerry for First Minister!
