Sugplumb installed a ground source heat pump into our new build. It's working well. Helpful guys. Ground source heating. Into the ground at 0, back at 3, 27 under the floors, 21.1 in the house (everywhere), -1 outside Compressor is on 6 hours in 24. Takes 2kw when running. Try heating a 3 bedroom house with just one 2 bar electric fire, on for 6 hours in 24! Costs: drilling the 100m deep borehole. 6,000. CTC400 heatpump and all its plumbing 10,000. 950m of underfloor piping embedded in special high thermally conductive concrete, 3000 Total cost 19,000. Cost of conventional gas boiler and radiator system, about 5,000. So the premium is about 14,000 House is toastie warm everywhere, no cold spots.

Sugplumb have done a number of jobs for us over the past two years including the installation of a replacement ground source heat pump and accumulator tank. They are very technically competent and friendly company to deal with and wont shy away from a difficult job. There were some issues with our existing installation when the ground source heat pump was being replaced and Sugplumb kept at it until they had resolved the problem - most impressed. Highly recommended for renewables and general plumbing work.
