Very idyllic place, very quiet, ideal for dogs, nice walks, bothie is a cosy little wood cabin with the essentials you need, solar powered electricity, a wood burner oven that also powers the hot water. Little terrace with BBQ Place. Only 5 bothies at the moment, but a few more to come. The nearest villages are Ballater (ok-ish) and Aboyne ( much nicer) . Balmoral and Breamar are also close by ( 20-25miles) The bothie is comfortable for 2-3 people I would say , although there are 4 beds.

Nice new bothies but unfortunately the beds are uncomfortable, the doorways are very low for some reason and there is no way to cook without a bbq or lightning the fire. There is also no hot water unless you light the fire, which we're not going to do as it's currently boiling in Scotland and the cabin is super warm already. The location is really good, it is nice and quiet and there is easy access to all the beautiful lochs, hills and the local villages nearby. It is also dog friendly, a big plus! We have enjoyed forest walks, wild swimming, we saw an adder for the first time and went mountain biking on very technical trails, spot on!

We spent a week in the Beekeepers Bothy and had a wonderful time. The bothies are well clean and warm, perfectly equipped for a family of 4. The single beds are short, not long enough for adults but worked perfectly for our children (6 & 9 years old). We accidentally snapped a key when trying to lock the front door but we were really quickly given a spare set of keys. The kitchen and the wood fired stove worked really well, we cooked almost every day. A small axe would come handy, we ran out of kindling after a few days. The storage under the bed is big enough but it would be great to have a few hooks in the bathroom (the Beekeepers has a bigger bathroom than the others, which we used for storing our shoes and show gear) to hang clothes and wash bags. The location is perfect for walks or going sledding during the winter months. We're planning to come back, hopefully in the summer this year.
