A project manager that didn't keep his word. Extra costs added at the end of the build with no explanation. Plaster work that was not professional. Very, very messy. Damage which was not fixed. I felt cheated and robbed.

MTC built our kitchen extension. Great company with a skilled and reliable workforce. Colin was able to help take my plans and adapt them to give us our dream kitchen. Very smooth process throughout the build. Highly recommended.

I found the builders and joiners to be good at their work. This warrants 2 stars. The plaster was very messy and did a poor job whilst the company director and project manager showed very little regard for providing a profession customer service or a successful conclusion to several remaining problems on the build. The plaster walls were bumpy, you can see the seems between the plaster boards and the mess was incredible. I asked several times for him to clean up and when he eventually did he used a broom that was so full of dust it put more dust into the air than there already was. He moved from a new extension to the kitchen and brought the mess into the kitchen as well. When I complained the project manager ignored me. The project manager didn't write any of the ongoing agreements down and repeatedly changed his story e.g. He said he would not charge for some work due to the poor quality plasterwork but he charged anyway. He added quite a lot of extra items that were not covered in the original quote and did not explain them, saying only "it had to be done". In fact based on his reasons at the time he didn't know why some items had been added. He only explained 2 years later after he had actually done some homework. When I didn't pay a few hundred pounds of the final the last instalment he wrote me an email saying how "disappointed" he was and he also reneged on an agreement to replaced several scratched windows until I paid every last penny plus all of the extra items. I had paid within a few hours of them asking all the way through the build. Who writes such childish emails after promptly paying over 60,000 with just a few hundred remaining?? All of the windows were scratched which can be clearly seen when the sun shines on the windows. They told me to stand several metres back and not look at the window when the sun shined. In other words don't look at the windows in daylight hours. He eventually only replaced the worst of the windows. Very poor quality. The project manager continued to ignore me for several months so I wrote a letter of complaint which was also ignored for more than a year. The company director also showed how little he cared for the customer. He had agreed to pay over 700 to pay for damage to my drive caused by equipment his company used. He turned this agreement into paying for the unfinished plaster work, the overcharged amounts and the driveway. Not nearly enough to cover the cost of repairs. He wanted me to agree to the final reimbursement but every time I asked him what the money was for and what he was asking me to agree to he kept repeating himself saying he "had taken everything into account" That's all he ever said in explanation - Never a word of clarification despite asking me to agree to a legal document to complete the complaint. He blamed me for repeating myself because he didn't want to answer my questions and eventually refused to communicate with me. A real professional attitude NOT!! Other problems :- They disconnected a two way switch I had in the garage to allow me to turn on the outside lights in winter. They have never fixed this. They broke 19 back garden slabs and originally wanted to charge me to fix the damage they caused. When they did replace the slabs they used my own slabs (without permission) that I had laid aside for another project so I ultimately paid for the damage they did. Some reviews say they had a good experience but several more repeat my own experience and ultimately I can only explain what happened in my circumstances. It was a very poor and unprofessional service. Service: Home extension services
