Excellent customer service from the manager yesterday. She managed to sort out an issue with a gift card in an efficient way, whilst being friendly and juggling other tasks. Thank you!

I don't even know where to start!? Maybe by saying that this review should lack a star rating as we didn't actually manage to successfully purchase anything from co-op Airyhall. This happened around 2 hrs ago, and I'm still riled up by it... My fiance and myself were coming home in a taxi after a meal in Cafe Andeuz. It was 21:30 and we were both too full of tapas to entertain busy bars on a Friday night, so we decided to swing by co-op to pick up 2 bottles of sauvignon blanc instead of dealing with the hustle and bustle of town. We scanned the wine into a self service machine and my fiance clubsily/nervously shuffled in her heels (she cant walk in heels at all) to the nearest colleague to seek assistance/age verification because there were no coleagues in sight of the main till points. I jokingly asked my fiance stop annoing the colleague on duty/ replenishing shelves because he would have most likely heard the alert by the machine asking for the nearest colleague to approve the age verification. The colleague approached us and we ask if he receives a notification on his headset when the self service machine makes an alert. He let us know that he doesn't, I then ask if galaxy orange chocolate is still on promotion. We bought some the previous week because the colleage in mention had a good sales approach and joked with us, neither of us like chocolate, which we told him, but we bought some to support sales because he had a good sales approach. I then told him I was joking about buying some tonight and that I dont like chocolate orange, thinking he would remember us buying it the previous week. He then abruptly calls over his female colleague before turning around and telling us he couldn't sell us alchohol. I look at my watch and let him know that its only 21:30. He then tells us that he can't sell alchohol to anyone who is intoxicated! We both laugh thinking he was joking - We were pretty much sober and our taxi was waiting outside. He let us know that he was serious. I ask to speak to his manager (Karen move but I feel it was justified given the situation and the closest shop is ALDI). The superviser comes out and tells us quite abruptly that he can't sell us alchohol because we were intoxicated. I laugh and quickly pull my phone out to record the situation due to the rediculous nature of the subject and to hopefully prove the strange confrontation later if needed. On camera, the supervisor claimed that there was an altercation, my fiance and I both quite imediately questioned any allegation of altercation. He remarked that we were swearing, to which the original colleague corrected him and told him that we weren't swearing. We were told we had obviously been drinking, to which we replied that we had just come back from a meal where we drank one bottle of wine in cafe Andeuz. The supervisor told us that we were staggering around, to which I told him that my fiance couldn't walk in high heels, because she never wears high heels. We go back and fourth for around 2 minutes, before I let the supervisor and coleague know that it was my birthday. I quite sarcastically thank them both. At this point they both freeze (obviously realising how uncalled for all of this was. It felt like someone had a bad day and wanted to regain power for a minute). I have never once been refused service in a bar or shop. The thought was so outrageous to me that I stood my ground and argued my point! We then left, laughed with the taxi driver and went to ALDI. ALDI had absolutely no problem selling us alchohol. Just go to ALDI first time, It's much cheaper, their range is much larger and the staff are pretty mature"
