Went specifically to Aberdeen to visit the church because it features in our family history. V disappointed to find it closed, even though it states online that it's open Wed n Thurs 10-1. From the outside it looks neglected, n the drinkers congregated in the graveyard didn't help the image either, so not even sure if it is even open anymore?

On doors open day you can explore the archeological dig site, but normally you can visit the church and marvel at its beauty. They have a large folder inside with a catalogue of photos from the archeological dig. Inside the church is beyond beautiful with Marcellus stained glass windows, definitely somewhere you should visit if youre in the city centre. The old kirkyard has so many beautiful, exquisitely decorated old graves and infoboards explaining whos who, with a lot of historically important peoples graves within the grounds and old graves that are hundreds of years old. The kirkyard is a beautiful wee walk, somewhere thats beautiful at all times of year.

Visited this gravy yard last week. The bench are full of people drinking alcohol, and seems to be a meeting place of people with problems. They shut the gates at just gone 5pm. The graveyard needs some work done to did, and is starting to look a bit run down. Worth a viewing... but did not feel safe at all. Would not recommend and would not revisit.
