UPDATE: I'm uprating to 3 (from 1) stars because I contacted Clydesdale Bank customer service via Twitter @askclydesdale @clydesdalebank and they helped me get through to the appropriate telephone customer service help and they deregistered the mobile app so I should get one-time codes sent to my mobile for future card purchases and they unblocked it so that I could register for internet banking using my desktop computer. So it is all sorted now but I will leave the old review below so you can read how upset I was with their mobile app, which I still don't want to go anywhere near. Clydesdale now teamed up with Virgin Money but it hasn't helped their debit card authentication procedure when you try to buy something online. They keep chopping and changing the authentication procedure in a high handed manner never giving the customer any choice and right now they are forcing you to authenticate online purchases by their mobile phone app, which you can't get logged into. So you can no longer make any online purchases using your card, the telephone help service keeps you waiting on hold because it is swamped with people complaining about this. So you have buy things in store, just at the time when you want to avoid crowds. There is no way to register for their internet banking service. When you complain in the bank they take your card and phone number and send an email which their website gives a "unable to help you online" message thereafter. I've been with the Clydesdale Bank for 25+ years plus and this is their lowest point. They are closing branches and I assume they are losing customers daily. It's a shambles and whoever is in charge should be sacked. Sack the board!
