Portaferry Windmill is a charming and historic attraction that is definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. One of the highlights of a visit to Portaferry Windmill is the opportunity to climb to the top. From here, you'll be treated to stunning views of the surrounding countryside and the nearby Strangford Lough and on a clear day you can see the Isle of Man. Overall, I would highly recommend a visit to Portaferry Windmill. It's a fascinating and well-maintained piece of history. Whether you're a history buff or just looking for a fun activity in Portaferry, you're sure to enjoy your time here

It might look like the gates to the building are locked sometimes but it's mostly always open, you just have to slide the wee thing open. I'm glad they did up the structure inside a few years back while keeping the nerve-wracking feeling of "what if I drop my phone and it falls through the bars?" Warning, as it can get quite cold and windy, especially on top of the building so wrap up. Beautiful views of the entire ards peninsula and lough and very nice and quiet at night. One of the best places in town to go look at the stars because there's no lighting past the path so you can actually see clearly. Also good for a nice walk up with your dog
