We have really enjoyed our stay at The Retreat B&B Greyabbey. Our hosts, Bill and Barbara, have been friendly, courteous and helpful. The premises are very clean and well-maintained to a very high standard. We felt able to relax knowing that hygiene was a priority here. The B&B is only 8 minutes drive to National Trust Mount Stewart, which is one of our favourite sites to escape to in N Ireland. I am happy to recommend this B&B to anyone who wants to get away for a short break.

My husband and I recently spent a few days at the lovely "Retreat" in Greyabbey. The hosts, Bill and Barbara are warm and welcoming hosts, and we felt at home right away. We stayed in the "Innishargie" room on the ground floor. It features a comfortable king bed and is decorated beautifully. There were snacks and sweets always on hand and a kettle for tea, plus a bottle of water. There was also a flat-screen TV. The bathroom was right outside the room for our exclusive use. I loved Barbara's choice of some healthy, high end products in the bath. Breakfast, prepared by Bill was delicious. There was always fresh fruit, local yogurt, cereals, breads, etc. We also took advantage of cooked breakfast, including eggs, potato bread, soda bread, tomato, sausage and mushrooms. Divine! Our hosts were great conversationalists, and we truly enjoyed chatting with them, sipping wine in a relaxed atmosphere after a day of touring the area. Greyabbey is a great jumping off point for exploring the Ards peninsula. The Abbey ruins and old graveyard are fascinating, and there is even a mobile phone app to guide you on a walk around town. We had a nice dinner in town at the Wildfowler. The amazing Strangford Lough is also right there, and Kircubbin a few minutes away. Portaferry is about a 15 to 20 minutes drive and from there you can take the ferry to Strangford and see that side as well. The whole area has a very interesting history. We hope to return to the area, and we'd definitely head straight to the Retreat.
