Always love this beautiful gem !!! One of my favourite places. It is a shame that there has been no restaurant or coffee machines for many years now.... I truly wish it would open again.... Grounds are superbly kept and the usher at the door is so helpful and friendly. Well done

I was in the Island Arts Centre on Saturday to watch the Lisnagarvey Operatic & Dramatics Society production of Sister Act. The venue is built for big sounds, the acoustics were fantastic, seating was really comfy with plenty of room between seats and leg room too. We were only a few rows from the front, but the stage is far enough away and the seats are tiered so everyone can see. From the minute we arrived, from the guys in the car park to the bar staff, every member of staff we encountered was absolutely lovely, so friendly! It speaks volumes about a place when everyone working there has a smile on their face and they all made the experience even better for me and my Dad. So, the negatives I feel for this venue is that the bar is SO tiny! The night of the show was a sellout and there were only 2 people serving at the bar/concession stand. A bigger bar would definitely help with the flow of people waiting. Similarly with the toilets, I spent most of the 20 minute intermission queuing for the ladies toilets. The bathrooms were very clean though. The Island Centre has a huge foyer and I do wonder why there isn't a bistro or small restaurant there for dining. I think it would do really well on show nights to be able to arrive early, grab a bite to eat and relax before the show starts. Otherwise, the quality of the show and our overall experience was fantastic and I'd say we had as good a time in The Island Centre as we did in the Grand Opera House!
