Most of the staff are helpful, kind and compassionate however I have solid reason to question the behaviour of the manager who led me to feel bullied and demeaned. Simon Community policy is being ignored which is leading to improper conduct by some staff. Unfortunately Simon community dealt with my concerns poorly, betraying confidentiality. Therefore I felt the complaints procedure was not fit for purpose and ceased to engage. Adherence to policy needs to be rigourous. Unfortunately this is not the case in Larne where policy is being nuanced to favour the managers own agenda/prejudice. On a positive note, the majority of the staff are good people. Larne is actually a quite pleasant place with nice walks, plenty of shops and an excellent selection of charity shops. The hostel is close to the train station & regardless of it's failings, Simon community Larne is a good hostel relative to other non simon community hostels which are hell on earth. I've left four stars because of the excellent staff. However, this is in no way reflective of the manager who would score zero stars.
