It's very sad to have to give such a low score for what should be a great local show. This was the first show I had been to since I was a kid, and I attended both as a competitor and a spectator. As a spectator, the show was very low-scale and we walked around it within about half an hour. The ticket only admitted for one day/night whilst the show offered different things on each day, which was not clear on the ticket. On a Tuesday evening, there were no animals, which is one of the draws for a county show. I attended the Omagh Show, which was run over one day and was a fantastic show of local businesses, animals, and all things agricultural. My partner prefers machinery and was also disappointed with the display at Fermanagh as if they suddenly wondered what to fill the carpark with! Were it not for stopping to speak to people we knew, we would have left quickly. As a competitor, this was a disaster. I know from multiple people that the numbers and the entries did not always match who owned what. The rules on the website were incorrect, yet none of the volunteers, staff, or even the Chairperson knew about these. Other competitors in my class were contacted prior to the show and given updated instructions; I was not contacted so I am not sure how you can call that fair. Following the show, I asked for confirmation of my entries/prizes and received a long email explaining how untrained volunteers were and how stressed everyone was. It was all handled very unprofessionally. It is a pity to see what could be a fantastic local event not run to its potential. I won't be competing again (possibly any show as this was such an ordeal) and I will unlikely be attending again. I do hope my criticism is taken on board and built into future years. It is not a reflection on any one individual.
