        Car park is on a pull in ( therefore free) right by the gate at the start of the steep climb up to the statue. I have angina and have had 2 heart attacks so had to take it slow and steady. There are benches along the way...could do with a few more....and it probably took me 20+ minutes to reach the top. There is a calvery below the statue with steps to a stone altar for outdoor services, I presume. The statue IS impressive and the views stunning but given the climb, once will be enough for me ! Btw, the trip down took 6 mins.
