I would like to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone, and I do mean everyone, working in Carrickfergus Manor. From the auxiliary staff to the carers, to the nurses, and so on, you were all completely amazing! You were all so kind, attentive, and considerate, not only to my mummy but to my sister and myself. I will never forget how lovely you all were/are to the residents and their families. I couldn't believe that Kathy (you know who you are) came in early for her shift just to see how mummy was, and your daughter even came in on her day off, to see mummy. I cannot tell you how much this means. I cannot even begin to say tell you how much my sister and I appreciate everything you did and still do. It is not a career that just anyone can do. There are many things for which we would like to thank the staff at Carrickfergus Manor. Upmost is the kind, caring, and sensitive attention you all gave mum from when she first entered Carrickfergus Manor until her passing less than just 13 weeks later. Our Father in heaven answered every prayer we had for mum, including the choice of Carrickfergus Manor as her final home here on earth. Thank you for making the process of mum entering the home smooth, and sensitively giving us time to take away mum's personal belongings after her passing. We loved being able to fit mum's room out just how we knew she would like it, she was able to look around it and know that it felt familiar, like home. We could see that mum was honoured in her new home, with care, nursing, maintenance, and cleaning staff taking time in with her just to say hello and calling out to her as we walked her along the corridors - the admin staff were also very helpful. We are so thankful that even through COVID lockdowns, the care partner system meant that many of our family were able to visit mum. We are thankful that we all could be with her as she had her last gentle breath. We're very glad that you got to see a little of the mother we knew, and that her dementia did not fully obscure her lovely self. We liked that staff knew mum liked to laugh and got to know the things that they could do to encourage her to get dressed, to eat, to go to the lounge and dining hall. You are staff who are wonderful, staff who value and respect old, precious, vulnerable people at the end of their lives, like our mum. Be encouraged to keep on doing the very great good that you do! Thank you!
