Having waited over 2 years for an NHS appointment with a foot consultant I was greatly dismayed to hear that the much-needed surgery would entail a further waiting list of at least 18 months for one foot followed by a further wait for the completion of treatment on the other foot. Not being able to contemplate suffering for such a long time, and after some research, I opted for private treatment on both feet from Mr Maurice O'Flaherty at the Kingsbridge Clinic. I have nothing but praise for the clinical and nursing treatment I received both during surgery and throughout the following aftercare and I am delighted with the outcome.

I first went to see Mr O'Flaherty in 2016 concerning a painful joint with my big toe, which was aggravated by running or any kind of high impact exercise. He did a thorough and extremely professional assessment ,then presented me with my treatment options. At this stage I chose to delay any further treatment ,as I did not want to commit to surgical intervention. Two years down the line in 2018,the condition was hampering exercising ,so I contacted Mr O'Flaherty again.I was thrilled to be told that a new synthetic implant was available ,which would be suitable for easing the joint pain. The consultation and operation were completed within four weeks and the results have surpassed my expectations. I no longer have that dull, persistent joint pain and my range of movement is much better than it has been since ten years. I cannot recommend Mr O'Flaherty highly enough for his clinical knowledge and expertise. One very satisfied runner!

I would like to say how pleased I was with Mr Maurice OFlaherty. Before attending the Twentysix Clinic I checked with my own Doctor and was told the NHS process would be significantly longer (approx 18/24 months). Mr OFlaherty was recommended to me and I can confirm that during my surgery and after, all care was excellent. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing foot or ankle surgery. The staff professionalism and attention to detail was very high. Follow up consultations were excellent. All costs were known at the beginning as I needed to know if I could afford before undertaking this private procedure. Valerie Allen

Disgraceful, overpriced service, even in comparison to other private hospitals/consultants/surgeons. Needed to have operation and they quoted 3 times the price of other local practices with 5 - 6 weeks waiting time to have the minor operation carried out. Other local practices/consultants were willing to do the procedure within a few days at one third of the cost. I wondered why this place had such poor reviews as it initially appeared otherwise, however, now I know why. Also, they employ cheeky, "know-it-all" admin staff. Update mid-February 2019: Having been in pain and discomfort with the foot and ankle issue, I had to go to an NHS hospital and I have now seen an NHS consultant, free-of-charge, at the Royal Victoria Hospital who carried out an X-ray, free-of-charge, and booked me in for surgery ONE WEEK later. I will therefore be having the surgery carried out free-of-charge at an NHS hospital rather than paying the thousands of pounds I was quoted to have the minor operation carried out by the Kingsbridge / TwentySix Clinic consultant Mr. Maurice O'Flaherty who I saw initially. Not only is it free of charge via the NHS, but it is 5 - 6 weeks less waiting time. I was very surprised that the NHS were able to book me in for surgery within 7 days of reporting the incident with them, especially when I was mis-informed by the Kingsbridge / TwentySix Clinic / 3fivetwo consultant Mr. Maurice O'Flaherty (who said that he also works for the NHS so knows these things) that I could be waiting up to 18 months to have the operation carried out on the NHS. Further to the disappointment, I was never advised how much the consultation with Mr. Maurice O'Flaherty would be. Having queried this after the consultation, I was told that the booking system had an "error" and that is the reason I was not shown the price. There was no offer of a refund or even an apology. Just that their system had an error and tough luck, basically! As well as that, Mr. Maurice O'Flaherty asked me to have an x-ray carried out during our consultation which he required to properly advise on the issue. I had the x-ray done and was charged for this, despite there being no mention of being charged for it. I thought it was part of the consultation. Having queried this after the consultation, I was told that they charge for all tests and procedures in addition to the consultant's fee. That's fine, but patients/customers should be made aware of charges before having the test/procedure carried out - just as is the case with any other product or service purchase decision from any other business. There was no refund or apology made (when they eventually responded to me after having to follow-up the complaint a week later). This place thinks they are above the law by refusing to abide by consumer rights and even fails to conduct themselves with even a minimum of common decency to their patients. I also queried with the admin staff whether there were any other consultants/surgeons that could carry out the procedure sooner, but I was told that I was not allowed to have it carried out by anyone else but the consultant that I initially saw. This is strange considering other local practices/surgeons were willing to carry out the procedure despite not having the initial consultation with them. As well as that, the NHS consultant/surgeon who will be performing the operation is not the same one as I initially consulted with at the NHS. Had I consulted with the NHS doctors from the outset, I would have had the surgery carried out by now and been on the road to recovery now instead of wasting my time and money with Kingsbridge / TwentySix Clinic / 3fivetwo and their ridiculous fees and waiting times.

I can not recommend Dr Maurice OFlahertys enough to anyone suffering life a foot or ankle injury that requires surgery to fix. I was first I introduced to Dr OFlaherty two years back while stuffing from a broken bone located behind a big toe. The pain was unbearable it was like having a small piece of glass logged in my foot constantly, and with weighing over 16 stone the pressure being applied was making matters worse.. Having competed internationally in two different sports over many years, I have unfortunately endured my far share of complicated injuries. Requiring my attendance at many consultations having to end with surgery - A shattered elbow / Broken bone in hand / fractured collar bone. These are just some examples. So the five star rating that I give Dr Oflaherty comes from many previous experiences. Without his help I could have never gone back to having an active lifestyle and a runner / boxer and weight lifter.. So with coming out the other side of a very difficult procedure, that nationally has a low success rate with flying colours. Dr Maurice OFlaherty is the man
