We used Dawson Forklifts to replace an ignition switch on our electric forklift in February, it lasted until November and kept cutting out. We called a local company in to replace as we had 3 artics to empty the same day & we hired out a forklift to keep us going until fixed. The local company showed us the spring loaded tractor switch that Dawson Forklift had used and fitted the correct ignition switch. We contacted Dawson forklifts and asked for a call back the same day and a few days later they still hadn't returned our call. We phoned back again and got through to Stephen, who we emailed a picture of the ignition switch, he said that's all they had and were doing us a favour getting our forklift going, though this was the first we had been informed that the wrong part was used - they didn't ask if it was acceptable by us, the company that paid the full invoice for the wrong part. Even though ignition switches have a 12 month manufacturers guarantee, they would only be covered when used in the correct application. Stephens response is as follows: - Unfortunately on occasion parts can fail prematurely and if it had of been after a shorter period of time I could have covered it but I am afraid I cannot at this point. So if you use the services of Dawson Forklifts make you call for their help before the 6month period, or you are on your own. Unfortunately 1 star is too high a rating for this response. It was a costly experience for us.
