I bought a car from Charles Hurst in 2021, and after 12 months took it back for a service. It had been fine. The garage diagnosed a catastrophic fault waiting to happen, which I now believe to have been false or at best a misdiagnosis. They 'fixed it' but it broke again within a month. They 'fixed it' again but when that again immediately broke they denied any responsibility and quoted another grand.
I didn't trust them by this point and took the car for repair elsewhere, where it was confirmed that the original 'repair' had been badly done and was leaking oil.
When I asked for them to do the repair they blamed the second garage for the damage and gave me no assurance that they would carry out the repair at no charge. I doubt they would have been capable of the repair as they'd clearly failed twice before.
No compensation offered, no apology, so I went to the Motor Ombudsman. Charles Hurst continued to deny any responsibility and after over a year I've seen no compensation or attempt at restitution.
They took over a grand of my money and ruined my car in return. Shame on them.
