However, I did visit the Hygenist 2 weeks ago and I found she was very rough on my gums, it was never sore like that any other time I've visited the Hygienist.
Yes, it has been sensitive and uncomfortable in the past whilst having a more precise and thorough clean but it is bearable to sit and have it done. However, on this occasion it was quite sore. The following day my back gum was painful at my molar and became very inflamed and irritated and my back teeth ached.
After 2 phonecalls, I was offered to come back to see the dentist so they could have a check over (only since I asked to have the appointment). When i seen the dentist, I was informed that it was all fine; no infection and to carry on with pain relief as I've been doing. I suggested to the dentist it could have been caused by the hygienist cleaning that area of my gum as the inflammation and pain started after i seen her, but no - straight away the dentist was on the defensive that it was purely coincidence that this happened and my gum is prone to this happening with brushing that area. I just got the impression as though id wasted their time.
Fair enough, but I personally think the hygienist went overboard on my gums while cleaning and since then I've been stuck in pain with this for 2 weeks after my appointment. Sorry, but I do not think that's a "coincidence".
I don't want to leave this practice as it is brilliantly run but I would not visit this hygienist again.
