Hoar Cross Hall is undoubtedly a class act. The facilities are fabulous and the food is super. However all of this lovely ness is somewhat let down by the inability to manage the finer points that can make or break what is not an insignificantly expensive treat. HCH financial systems are a let down, the wrist bands don't work, and our experience was tainted by duplicated payments for treatments and an emailed receipt 2 days after for breakfast that we were sure had been paid at the time. Check your bill is good advice!

I have just got back from a nights stay for my Birthday and our 1st overnight stay at Hoar Cross Hall, we have been previously for a day spa but through why not stay as a birthday treat. Whilst it was good, there were a few things that could have made it even better! Upon check in, we were asked if it was a special occasion or birthday, of which I said yes I was waking up at the hotel for my birthday the next day. Not sure what the point of asking was as there were no extra effort made, I wasn't expecting anything but it could have definitely made a nice touch to the stay! We stayed in room 208, the room was lovely but neither of us got a good nights sleep (much needed with a toddler at home!) as the room was boiling even with the windows open and radiators turned off.. Bathroom had paint peeling off around the door hinges, nothing major but a little need of attention and the coffee/tea holder hadn't been rinsed/cleaned out for a while. Overall the spa was great, some of the anti slip paint around the pool area were flaking and you had black bits occasionally appear on your feet, as was the paint in the dome above the salt pool. The jets in the jacuzzi were a little sparse and the chlorine was a bit overpowering around the Ice Plunge area that I couldn't stay in that pool area too long. Finally when it came to showering and leaving the showers were all freezing and I could only find one that had some warm water? The other half said the same about the men's showers. Food wise, for a fussy eater I didn't think it was too bad, Dinner was lovely and paid the supplement for the Fillet Steak. Lunch was trickier, the main Chicken Carbonara just wasn't that great, and the desserts didn't really feel that good either. Breakfast was decent and the Ballroom staff were lovely and attentive.

On arrival we were made very welcome with a complimentary drink, after we checked in we went on the electric bikes around the grounds which was lovely. Our room was ready and got changed for our two day spa, remember to take a changing bag with you as especially on the second day when you vacate your room as you can put your change of clothes in rather than having to get your suitcase. We had some treatments which were very relaxing and rooms were well equipped and clean, the only thing that was not mentioned was a shhhhh room to meet with your friend after treatment, once we found this out for ourselves it what fine, also for clean towels and dressing gowns you had to go to the spa reception out from the changing rooms. The spa on the second day was quite busy a bit busy in some of the steam rooms. The hotel room we first had was some nose from generators this was soon rectified with no problem and the manger came up and changed our room we had an amazing room with garden views. Well the food in the Ballroom was absolutely delicious and staff were very friendly and helpful and met every dietary requirement. I would like to thank Joe for her kindness at the reception desk. We will definitely be coming back.
