Fantastic find, these apartments are out of the way but a couple of minutes walk into the city centre,parking permit is supplied and the apartments are fabulous, spotlessly clean the hosts are brilliant all enquiries were answered in no time and nothing has been to much trouble for them, we will book next time we're in york and i would reccommend it to anyone, 10 out of 10 from me

A group of 10 of us stayed at City Apartments - The Old Hotel, Clifton. Whilst the two apartments we booked (Lady Peckett and Whip Ma Whop Ma) were in a lovely building and nicely furnished, I could not in good faith recommend them to anyone. There is no soundproofing whatsoever, so you hear EVERY noise from adjoining apartments. Even the heavy sleepers in our group only managed 2 hours' sleep before being disturbed again. And it wasn't that we were next door to particularly noisy groups - even just the sound of them walking above came thundering through the floorboards. I contacted City Apartments to suggest they may benefit from an overnight stay to understand where the issues lie, but received no response. It's a real shame as we're regular visitors to York and no doubt would have booked again had our complaint been listened to and duly rectified.

I booked a 2 day stay at city apartments York 5/1/21 around 11am and payed for / confirmed my booking via credit card . 1pm the same date i recieved a call from the property apologising that due to covid they can't accept my booking and have cancelled and refunded my payment ( 138 ) . I checked my account and the payment was pending (so fair enough ) . 5/1/21 @ 9am I recieved an email to 'confirm' the booking (which obviously had been cancelled by the property the previous day via telephone ). I than insinctly checked my bank hoping they hadn't taken the payment again in confusion . I called the property to ask about the email is just recieved and to ask about the payment as they still hadn't returned the payment to my bank , they checked and agreed the payment / refund hadn't been done , apologised and told me that he would makesure the refund was issued by the end of the day . 6/1/21 - 10am - I recieved a cancellation email from the property (on the same booking that had previously been booked - cancelled by the property than rebooked and cancelled again ALL by the property ) . 11.30am - I checked my account and the property had actually now TAKEN tge payment for the booking that was cancelled !! And STILL NO REFUND !! 12pm - I called the property were i immediately asked to speak with a manger , I was told that wasn't possible . I than explained (to the young man answering the phone and whom had answerd the phone and taken my call each and everytime I called the property right from the 1st call . He has now in a non polite manner told me he can't do refunds and im going to have to wait until the landlord decides he wants to do it !! 3 days of absolute caios, no one seems to be able to tell me why my refund hasnt been issued or when .
