My dad never had his own clothes on - the staff initially seemed caring, but the residents sat in the living/dining area from morning until bed time - absolutely no stimulation or engagement given... on rare occasions that there was an activity we were invited to attend. I had to fight to get my dad an ambulance as he was incredibly unwell sat in a t shirt only in November, he had an open wound on his foot which was infected and he had no socks or slippers on just a bare foot on the filthy floor. I insisted on an ambulance and he was taken to hospital, he had pneumonia and sepsis and died a few days later - I feel i have let my dad down. The most vulnerable people in society are allowed to be looked after the least qualified and poorly paid staff. This is not CARING it is exploiting the most precious people in our lives at a time when CARE is needed most.... I do hope the owner who only cares about 's finally gets what is due to her... within 2 days of losing dad we had a whopping bill to pay ... absolutely disgusting .. I will always blame the lack of care for us losing our Dad in a way that was down to TOTAL NEGLECT! I reported this almost 4 years ago... in much detail and the CQC is still not responding to their own findings in the correct way.... Needs shutting down with immediate effect.

Good: friendly staff, nice clean building, my gran could get her hair done every week. Bad: my gran never had her own clothes on despite them having her name in, when my gran ran out of money after nearly 5 years they were not prepared to let her stay unless the family could could fund the gap between the council rate and care fee, care fees increased massively _starting at 3250 in Oct 2014 raising to 4529 by 1st April 2018. The last increase was 12% despite my grans condition and care requirements remaining relatively unchanged. On one occasion my gran was dressed to go out with no socks on despite it been very cold outside. My grans wedding ring and engagement ring were also lost while staying at the lodge so Id recommend removing and valuables beforehand (please note I not saying this was stolen as im sure this was not the case however I suspects its hard for the staff to make sure people with dementia dont hide or give these things to other residents). I believe the care at this home is just as good as any other however having to move my gran when she ran out of money was very stressful and was not something that was made clear when we decided to place my gran in the lodge, if it had been we would have looked elsewhere. Before you place your loved ones in this care home please make sure you address this point.
