About one hour queue on a weekday morning, which is to be expected for such a popular place. However the real asset of the shop is the staff, who's clearly knowledgeable about the products, the history of the shop and also kind and up for good banter! I've found my ghost but I'm sure I'll be back to find them a companion

Visited in Jan and waited for around 2 hours but (maybe Im just susceptible to the idea) it added to the experience and makes my little ghost family even more special to me. The queue was managed really well and it was made clear to us where to stand. The shambles is also beautiful and not a bad place to spend a couple of hours! I loved seeing the ghosts in the window as we got nearer and was lucky enough that no one picked the one I was eyeing up! There are so, so many ghosts and everything is atmospheric, from the staff outfits to the interior to the packaging they come in. I particularly like the boo box the mini ghosts come in. The ghosts are priced extremely generously for the quality and popularity. I was also really happy that they had beautiful canvas bags for sale which are perfect for taking your ghosts home, also at a fair price. No corners are cut when it comes to the experience or the ghosts. The staff member on the till was particularly friendly and we walked out very happy and felt it was worth the wait. Shops like this are so special and rare. It would be easy to dismiss this as overhyped by TikTok but that could not be further from the truth. It deserves the popularity on its own merit & I cant wait to visit York again and get some more ghosts!
