Inexperienced and time wasters. Went in branch to set my wife up on a bank account a week prior. A lady sat with us and tripled check her paper work and booked us an appointment to this branch to set it up. We booked for 9am and I booked time out of my day from work to travel and get it done. We are greeted by Sarah who takes us to a claustrophobic back office upstairs and everything seems fine initially. That is until she gets stumped on some documentation. She goes to her manager who doesn't seem to know anything and then gets in contact with another manager who also looks to have not known anything. This results in a wasted hour where she comes back and says we need a biometric which we present. She then says she needs it to say the type of visa which we show her along with the date. She then tries to reject it based on a tenancy agreement requirement which we provide fully signed by the letting agency and my landlord to which she then points to a red card for her visa documentation on the website. From the looks of it the staff at this branch didn't have any experience or knowledge in what they were doing in regards to IRL citizens. To have to go through two managers and then just kind of give up seems highly unprofessional especially when we have all the documentation pre checked by prior staff. We wouldn't have bothered with Halifax otherwise! What is most frustrating is my wife wasted thousands of dollars in government approved documents and legal fees just to move here and she gets messed around by people relying on a website image after two branch managers can't figure out what to do. Avoiding in the future.
