I went to the one day beginner sewing class on Saturday 28th January 2023 and thoroughly enjoyed my day! Gill is a wonderful tutor. We learned the basics about how to use a sewing machine, read and cut a pattern, use basic stitches, how to press hems - and we all made a beautiful pair of pyjama bottoms! A really fun day. I feel confident now to use my machine, do the alterations I wanted to do and even to make some basic items. I'm looking forward to booking another session so I'll know how to work with a stretchy fabric. I would highly recommend this to anyone just starting out or who maybe needs a refresher and/or a bit of confidence. The shop also has a lovely supply of fabrics and wool - everything you need to get cracking.

As a novice sewer I took the beginners class. Kathy is a knowledgable, patient and hospitable tutor showing me everything I need to know to get started on making garments all from her beautiful studio in the centre of York. I thoroughly enjoyed the classes and will definitely be back for more. If youve never sewn before then this is the perfect place to get started!

Wonderful beginners' sewing workshop. Very good teaching, so patient. Started as a true beginner and in just three lessons have acquired enough skills to work independently. Highly recommend it.
