(Translated by Google) Just looking at the appearance, it is already a model of classical and beautiful architecture! (Original)

Great quiet study room upstairs with dozens of books on York's history, some of which contain maps that are telling of the eras in which they were produced (or reproduced), including some before York expanded outside the walls, and labelling mentioning Roman walls within the mounds holding the current ones. There's an archive available most days upstairs also, unfortunately in use whilst we were there. Bathrooms seemed a little unkempt out of toilet roll, pretty wet all over the floor.

Large library with cafe, helpful staff and free reservation option, ideal for such a central position in York.
