        Nearby activities: Mins from the centre, visited the Jorvic centre and the shambles. We also went to the golden fleece inn. It's a place you can amble about going into pubs alhe along the way and enjoy the atmosphere. Safety: Like any place you visit, no particular safety issues. Felt safe and busy enough to walk around at night. Noteworthy details: Feel good vibe. You feel transported back in time. Loved that you could open the window up. We used the Mary gate car park, no problems parking and just a few mins walk from the hotel. No hastles at all and good price.

        Thank you for a lovely stay at your unique hotel, all the staff were great, loved the Secret Garden, food excellent, fantastic location. Only one tiny 'gripe' - no shelf in shower to put shower gel/shampoo (Room 1). Otherwise faultless. Walkability: So close to centre of York
