The amenities in the room is absolutely fine.

Nearby activities: Within 10 minutes walk you have york castle and big york museam next to each other.
The river allows for self drive boats or 35 for an hour. Or cruise at leisure from the Staithes on the river for 14 for 45 minutes.
Town has great old buildings and good unique shops with the minster on the furthest side of town.
Have a scare at york dungeons near the river 21 each, exceptional acting and interaction.

Safety: I felt no ill-ease but then I did not go out after dark.

Walkability: Just ten minute stroll into town with all the attractions around you in the same vicinity.

Food & drinks: Unfortunately at the time the victoria pub did not offer food on my stay.
But there are plenty of eats near-by and in town.

Noteworthy details: Unfortunately the road junction the pub is on, is extremely noisey with old sash windows. Pedestrian walks beeping regularly. Traffic noise from heavy hgv vehicles, emergency sirens and loud motorbikes regularly. On average 6am through to 10pm every week day.
