Little disappointed with my visit. Had to wait 15 minutes at reception before it was manned and I was greeted and checked in. Various flaws with the room that could have been corrected with very little effort that sour the experience. Fire Alarm went off with everyone fleeing from their rooms with noone at reception to assist. Assume this was the worse case scenario but deeply dissatisfied considering the cost and in contrast to other quite excellent elements. Unlikely to visit again.

Love it! Excellent place to stay. Great service. Lovely quiet situation, by the side of the river. 20 minute walk from centre of York. Used taxis for eating out in the evening. Rooms: Fabulous room with a balcony with a view of the river. and kitchenette, two TV's. One of the more expensive but well worth the money. Very spacious. As warm or as cool as you want. Comfortable bed and furniture. A real treat.

Update: April 2023 it's STILL FANTASTIC! big shout out to Dan on reception for being really kind and thoughtful as some notes I'd sent through didn't reach the hotel and they took care of us beautifully anyway, which reduced stress and has made for a lovely perfect stay. We have a few health needs that need a bit of support / planning and this was managed without a bat of an eyelid. If you want great service, style, comfort and security, this place is just wonderful. Thankyou again! Shauna See below for important note MAY 22. Wow, this place was incredible! The apartment was really luxury, the decor stunning with deep blues and gorgeous lighting touches and nice fabrics. The sofa was really comfy as well as a luxury blissful bed and Aircon. Dishwasher, microwave, great shower, good coffee for free in the foyer to warm or perk you up and treats to buy in their cafe / shop. The staff are literally the best staff I've had the pleasure to talk to in a hotel, they really are an asset to it. This place from the moment you walk in and get a coffee etc elevates it to an A+++experience. I'd absolutely say this place is worth paying more for, it's in a higher bracket than other nearby hotels. Warning however - MAY 22 whilst the flood defence work is happening in the area, if you're on foot you have to walk a mile around to get to the road (genuinely) and the same distance back as the little footpath that links you to town across the bridge is closed. We calculated on our phones we'd walked 4 miles extra from nipping into town twice! For now, it's a shame but I have to say it is with regret I probs will wait to stay there once that's reopened as my husband has bad feet and even mine we're feeling it after 8 miles of walking around
