I regularly use car parks managed by this company, especially Peel Street Car Park in York when needing to reach the city centre in a hurry. It's well maintained, there's usually space when I visit, the fees are reasonable all things considered, and the recently installed modern tech makes it a fast and efficient visit.

We entered the car park and joined a Q of 8 people at the ticket machine. The machine was not very clear on how to enter details/payment etc. The other 8 people were all standing around in total confusion. I used my i-phone to call Bransby Wilson. After negotiating more than 4 "menus" we finally got thru on the 4th call. This took a while, and we were aware that a photo had been taken of our registration on entering, we did try to alter the time as 15 min. had passed but were unable. We were told to pay on departure (Not clear) When we got back to the car park, there was another queue of confused customers. I used my phone once more to call the company after the machine refused our coins. , finally after a while we got thru to Bransby Wilson and were told to call yet another company as they were not responsible for the machine. After a while a member of staff arrived and told us that the machines were only 2 days installed and 1 was not working properly. When we finally managed to pay, we had just gone over 3 hours, so had to pay for 5. The most confusing part of the transaction was when the ticket/receipt was finally issued, it stated clearly that it was pay & display. How on earth do you display, when the ticket is only issued on departure. ? God only knows. The tel. staff were unhelpful and had no knowledge of the product. Considering that this car park (Peel St) had free parking times before I felt really cheated. My advice will be never to use a car park operated by Bransby Wilson. I am just hoping that there is no automatic fine for the time spent trying to pay for the ticket. I will contact the local trading standards office to report their "system" as I found it totally unfair, bordering on illegal.
