May 2021 Lovely welcome from Martin and Bev who are working hard to follow the current Covid restrictions. A very helpful couple who know the area well and are happy to advise and help to suggest places to go and how to get there. They are bed and breakfast only and have 4 rooms available, all with en-suite. The attic room is small but beds are comfortable and tea/coffee making facilities in each room with TV for those rainy days/evenings and free wi-fi too. Lovely breakfast selection served each morning, though I did end up having the cooked breakfast every day as it set me up for the rest of the morning. Note that there are stairs to climb to all rooms. York City Is a beautiful city with plenty to do and is about 10-15 minutes walk away along the river Ouse but there is a local bus service too, though this runs only every half hour and not on Sundays. Other buses can be caught from the City bus station, running more regular services to Leeds, Harrogate or Whitby and more. If you are driving then there is a park and ride system in the City, but there are also lots of places to go and visit on the Yorkshire Dales not far away. Things to do York Minster; the Jorvik (Viking) Centre; York Castle and the Castle Museum and Museum Gardens (with ancient Roman and Gothic ruins); York's 13th-century wall, which encompasses the City; the York Railway Museum (just behind the station); the York Air Museum and Rowntree Park to name but a few.
