Just popped in to to buy some energy drinks for my wife. The server told me I should not be buying them as they are bad for my weight (I am a little overweight at the moment I admit but after nearly a year mostly housebound due to health issues, nothing to do with covid, plus a physical disability it is not too surprising). I pointed out that they were for my wife to receive the reply 'yeah of course they are' and a lecture on how they were also bad for my heart. Asked for the manager and out he came. Asked were his 'jumped up server' (factually correct as he is A, a server and B, jumped up enough to give out unwanted medical advice and criticism on people's buying habits) got off giving me medical advice and who did he think he was? The manager was interested in, A, getting me somewhere quiet so other people couldn't here the complaint (I was admittedly loud but hey I was upset I'm not a saint and I did apologise when it was pointed out) B, complaining to me that I had called his staff member 'a jumped up server' and that I didn't have a mask on. I asked him at this point if he knew what a sunflower lanyard means (I wear one) and got the reply 'yes it means that you can be arrogant' In short it appears to be Co op policy to give criticism and medical advice on your purchases. I can only confirm this for energy drinks but must assume that the same will hold true for sweets, crisps, chocolate, alcohol, cigarettes, fizzy drinks etc etc. I would advise just buying vegetables and fruits to be on the safe side. I have deliberately left out the names of the staff members I spoke with as I do not think I should put them on a public forum but if if someone decides to respond to this review then I am happy to pass the names in private.
