North & Hawkins Building Consultancy

Unfortunately we would not recommend using North & Hawkins Building Consultancy after recently instructing them to survey a house we have now bought. Prior to buying the property we outlined a number of concerns, and paid a premium rate for a survey to gain perspective on the scale of these repairs, specifically in regards to it being a listed building. The overall summary acknowledged the concerns we had but in conclusion they didn't see any reason to not go through with the purchase. We have since made ourselves aware of issue with the lead valley that go beyond the leak and repair we mentioned; it's structurally far more complicated, and essentially we will have to completely re-roof ASAP. This could have been observed easily from a window, with basic structural observation. I would not recommend instructing these people to look at properties that are older and may have complicated issues. Definitely seek experts in historical building practices. We have been left hugely disappointed by their practices and when raising a complaint we were told we should have got someone else to look at everything. In my mind this makes them completely obsolete in the process...you'd expect to be treated fairly and decently in and understandably upsetting situation. Not met with a "you should have read the small print" ideology.

We have called upon North & Hawkins twice now to have survey reports raised on our properties. Our dealings with Mr Paul Hawkins has been second to none. His attention to detail and customer service is exemplary. We would have no hesitation in recommending this company for all your survey needs. We will definitely seek Paul's professional service again in the future.

Cannot speak highly enough - fortunately Paul was at hand to expedite both a survey and boundary amendment for Land Reg for us.Would thoroughly recommend and will definitely use again. Big thank you Paul.
