Ruth supported me through the birth of my son on January 2020. She was wonderful and was key to how smoothly everything went. She was calm, kind, non-judgemental and always knew what to do. My midwives complemented her as one of the best Doulas they had worked with. I can't praise her work enough! I will forever remember this day as a wonderful experience and I am sure that it would not have been possible without Ruth!

I had no idea what a doula was before meeting Ruth. She provided me, an individual with no real knowledge of child birth other than biology books a totally new perspective. I was able to solidly support my partner in securing the right birth despite deviation from the intended plan. She was very cool. Even, when I called to ask if we should be going to hospital whilst my partner was having contractions whilst our plumbers were fitting our new boiler.

I actually miss seeing Ruth now were 6 weeks in and settled. She was calm and helpful and so positive in the run up to the birth, and she certainly helped us prepare. But it was afterwards when she became truly invaluable. She came back to the hospital to help when we had complications after we had been discharged and then needed to stay. She calmed an enormously fraught situation on the ward, helped us home and then visited us throughout the week after. It was lovely, her bringing groceries and a friendly, loving vibe to our tired household. She also oversaw a difficult start to feeding with a tongue tied baby, was knowledgable about what was happening and where to seek help. She helped my wife (and me) cope with the difficulties she was facing, as well as those our son had- and its this Im particularly grateful for. Theres only so much a husband, a couple, a supportive grandmother or best friend can do. Having a loving, caring, informed and patient doula in those early days after the birth brought us so much strength. She had been with us since before wed made our birth plan or started NCT and she was still there when the proverbial really hit the fan in the dark days after the birth. Our local health services and midwives have been great, but I think having a Ruth should come on the NHS. She has been wonderful to us and I cant recommend her highly enough.

Ruth was an exceptional doula, clearly born to do the job! Shes a genuinely kind, caring and nurturing person as well as being extremely well informed and knowledgeable with all things birth and baby related! I enjoyed every meeting we had, from the brilliant antenatal session thinking about our birth plan, to all the post-natal help she gave when I was unexpectedly unwell following the birth - she turned up at the drop of a hat and always knew exactly how to make life easier for all of us during what were some pretty tough times. Even responding to my panicking texts at 3am was really above and beyond, but not for her. She really does care. I was in two minds about how valuable a doula would really be at first. Now I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone becoming a mum - its not just a luxury but a necessity in making a smooth transition into happy motherhood! And Ruth has to be one of the best Doulas out there.
