I find the recent response from Fitzroy Lodge not only deflective and void of responsibility, it shows a total lack of respect which in my opinion truly reflects the unprofessional standards witnessed at Fitzroy Lodge. I was unfortunate enough to see my grandfather in their "care" and have to say that I wouldn't wish this level of negligence on anyone, let alone the vulnerable individuals in which they are entrusted. The comment that it is the patients family that are at fault for not raising concerns sooner is utterly deplorable. It is your job to maintain a level of care, not ours to notify you when you fall so dramatically below the bar of standards. My own concerns include - Being asked to do a LFT but being allowed access without the results being identified. - Excrement found on my grandfather's leg after being told he'd had a bath. - Dirty socks left on a table that were there from the previous visit. - A light bulb that had not been changed in the toilets between visits. - General uncleanliness - My frail grandfather abruptly being handed a hot cup of tea which he then subsequently then spilled down himself. Overall I found a total lack of care and attention in this facility and don't mind admitting that I was extremely pleased when we were able to transfer him out of there at the earliest opportunity. The most positive aspect of the visit was the well maintained lawn and the polite gardener we had the pleasure to encounter whilst he went about his business. Clearly there was pride in his work. Although it's public knowledge that the CQC awarded Fitzroy Lodge "Good" in 2018, a quick search informs that it is currently under a review of quality. I'd be interested to see their findings. In my opinion, despite the claims of being specialists they fall very short of the mark. I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone sending their loved ones to such a poor establishment. My advice is to do your homework and visit before you make a decision. Their claim of being unique is absolutely true. Unfortunately it is for all the wrong reasons.
