Mismanaged care for a resident who has now sadly passed away. A man in his 60's, diabetic with Parkinson's. An injury to his heel was sustained on the plate of his wheelchair in Sunhill, after falling forward from the wheelchair. This wound became larger and ultimately became necrotic, and led to sepsis and through knee amputatIon after being in Sunhill for approx 6 -8 weeks . When the family went to visit their father that final evening before admission to hospital,he was virtually unresponsive He had very high blood sugars as the family asked the registered nurse to take them (The residents children were alerted to the extreme deterioration of the foot ,when a friend visiting the resident was present to see the heel when it was being re-bandaged). The family immediately attended the home and found their Dad virtually unresponsive in his wheelchair in the dining room. The foot could be smelt on approach. The resident was immediately taken to A+E were sepsis was confirmed. The next week was a living hell and resulted in emergency surgery to amputate through the knee, 3 days later. The resident never fully recovered after the acute sepsis, and amputatIon and passed away 11 weeks later in a new residential home. A terrible, terrible time for all.

Dreadful and dangerous place that should be shut down. My aunt was only there for 4 weeks after a hospital stay. My mother was going to move her after complaining of the poor care and the room being cold, dirty and TV not working. Not that she spent much time in her room as hospital had instructed where she was to have peace and quiet. She was stuck in a cold conservatory with rows of chairs with noisy residents. Personal items also went missing too such as pairs of glasses. It was no use my mother talking to the manager. She was often found outside smoking or locked herself away in her office. When my mother did locate her she was extremely rude and unprofessional. Absolutely horrifying that this woman is still in charge! I hope that she's given up the cigarettes. Before my mother could move her to a better establishment my aunt was taken ill and rushed back to hospital where they found that she had been given the wrong food, she had a care plan from the hospital giving strict instruction and had pressure sores!!! She nearly died!! My aunt is now happily living elsewhere warm and quiet. Well cared for and on the correct diet. Care plan is followed. AVOID THIS HOME. MY AUNT WAS LUCKY TO SURVIVE!!

A terrible place to let somebody live. My dad was here for 5 weeks and the staff allowed his foot to become infected from a pressure sore. My poor dad was in so much pain without us realising. The health care assistants were allowed to re-dress his wound which became septic. (THIS SHOULD ONLY BE DONE BY A REGISTERED NURSE!!!) After we rushed him to hospital, within a week he had to have us leg amputated. The infection stayed within his body for a months after which then led to him passing away. This is the worst place to let someone live. The other residents were left in their chairs facing walls without being cared for and told the toilet is not available because in use. There should be more than one toilet for all the residents!! Some residents allowed to soil themselves. Appalling care, some staff can not speak any English, Smelly, dull. They should be shut down after what they did to my poor dad and how they treat everyone else. This is something my family and I have to live for forever.
