I was a bit surprised to read a couple of very negative reviews below and I felt I needed to share my own very different experience. My father has been a resident for the best part of a year. Not only has he been cared for in an exemplary way, but my step-mother - who herself had a previous good experience of a couple of weeks' respite at Pentlands after a minor operation - and the rest of the family have always found the staff supportive since he went in, and with time to listen.

My mum was a resident recently. She referred to it as the hotel. She received the best care in a warm , safe and cosy environment All the staff without exception were friendly and welcoming, both to mum, and all her visitors. They made her last weeks as good as they could be at a difficult time.

A caring, well run, comfortable home. Great staff and relaxed atmosphere with open door visiting. My mother had 15 months here and was well cared for, she loved her "home from home"

I was made to feel very unwelcome and maybe that I could not afford the Home! I am researching care homes for my mother who will soon need to choose somewhere and I have been advised to turn up unannounced and ask for a tour and details of costs. I turned up on a Tuesday at 2.30 pm - trying to avoid their busy lunchtime and tea-time but I was not offered a tour, not asked for my details for the future and told "it's quite expensive here". My mother will be self funding and although we don't wish to have to pay 1000 per week - it seems to be the norm! I would strongly suggest avoiding this place if you want to be treated with any kindness or respect! There was also a poor lady calling out for someone to help her please and she was being totally ignored. That also put me off this place of course.

Excellent care and a home from home once the staff get to know the person. In a difficult situation the staff are sensitive and caring. Thank you
