My mother has been in this home for a while now and is very happy here. The staff are amazing! So helpful & accommodating, nothing is too much trouble. They go out of their way to make the residents feel comfortable and at home. Alison the manager is very approachable and always happy to have a chat if you have any questions.

My aunt was discharged to this care home from hospital. I waited 6 weeks after her death there from covid to write this review. The home didn't warn us that the outbreak had started to give us a chance to remove her. They didn't tell us that she was badly ill. Its unforgivable that they didn't call an ambulance when her condition worsened They did phone us about 5 times on the day of her death, the first time just 2 hours after she'd died, to pressure us into arranging an undertaker. The home's management seemed disorganised. No track and trace for visitors, no checking they had medical grade facemasks, no face mask for the resident, no checking visitors hadn't removed them after 5 mins, no windows open for ventilation with a blanket for the resident. I put these failing in writing to them - no reply. Twice we visited and my aunt's hearing aids hadn't been put in (without which she was very isolated), so how many other days were they not in? Visits were pre booked first-come, not per resident, so some relatives had lots, some none. I asked for a weekly report on my aunt (which her at-home carers did) - no, they couldn't do that. I asked for a manager to double-check her hearing aids had been put in - no they couldn't do that. I asked for them to send me her medication (to make sure she wasn't on anti-depressants) - each time they said they would send it but never did. She had been there 2 months before we found out she didn't have her glasses - just plain readers would have done. Very poor communication, a video of my aunt in her room would have been nice. Setting up Zoom in her room so we could have see each other between visits would have been **really** nice even if her hearing wasn't good. Duplicitous billing - 1,080 pw, but the NHS nursing care contribution - FNC - is extra to, not subtracted from their bill (NB: the West Sussex social services rate in ~ 600pw) Another example: when we came to pick up her things, her wedding ring was missing (when we complained, they found it in the safe). On the plus side, the rooms were big, and my aunt liked the food. I realise covid must have been a really difficult time for care homes, and many people caught covid even in hospitals, but the home lack of enforced systems ("wear this surgical face mask, and I'll come back every 20 mins to check you are still wearing it and are still 2m apart, and then sign-off that I've checked") didn't help. I imagine my aunt wasn't the only one to die during the covid outbreak there. With hindsight, no visits and zoom in every room. I feel guilty for not removing her from this place. Her mind and health were failing, so her time had come, but still, a sad and lonely place for her to die. A miserable end to a life otherwise very well lived. Until their management, communications and systems are improved. This place was heartless to my aunt. I do not recommend it., and certainly not during covid. Check the latest Care Commission report. Update: I have asked in writing, 6 times, for more information about my aunts death, and not received **any** information. Did they monitor her health, her SpO2, keep any records. Why didn't they phone for an ambulance?
